EXPERIENCE vs CONCEPT


Experiences refer to conscious events of thoughts and sensations in the present moment, while concepts are mental constructs created when we recall or speak of past experiences. Although concepts can lead to wisdom, relying solely on unconscious interpretations of experiences can lead to limiting beliefs.


In the drift (the collective unconscious of human beings), we live in the concept of life, rather than in the experience of life. Our putting words to, and trying to describe, an experience has us move out of the experience and into a concept of the experience.


Another way of saying it is: We are not eating the meal, we are eating the menu…
